It's not the first time I went into the naming dilemma. It happens every year so this time I actually decided to ask here.
I want a domain name that is exactly available on .xyz and its plural available with .com.
For example
mything.xyz VS mythings.com
Now I am confused about how it affects my business if I chose one over the other.
Any experiences?
π My app's name is Sidekick and I currently have an .app but I'm switching over to a .com. Upon researching, I've learned that the .com does carry a certain weight of trust and authority. It's also more instinctual to type .com.
However, what's more important is the unique-ness of your brand. I found that if your brand and name are unique enough, customers will remember you and you will still come up - xyz or .com.
Thanks for the suggestion.
As some have mentioned I think .com is the way to go.
I have own two .apps and am looking forward to grabbing a .com for my next project.
I would go with the .com. The xyz domain feels cheap to me, like it's a spam page.
Have you tried slightly modifying the domain name instead of going with the plural? Something like gomything.com, mythingapp.com, usemything.com?
my vote is to go for .com and choose something that is easy to remember and type irrespective of the product. If the product is popular people will associate the name with website.
