Folks,
I am a Product Manager with 10 years of work experience. For the past few months, I have been thinking of quitting . I have two primary reasons -
I eagerly wait for weekends;not to relax but because i get to work on my side projects. The urge to quit grows every passing day. But I'm in a bit of a dilemma because the job pays very handsomely. I have my finances covered for an year but the realization that there isn't going to be a paycheck at the first of every month holds me back.
On the other hand , it has become extremely difficult to stay motivated on the job and that has taken a toll on my productivity and eventually the work I am producing is sub-standard .
Anyone been in this space? Would appreciate your suggestions.
I don't work (semi-retired, but not enough to live comfortably without making money some way), and I have to say I love it. When I worked a day job, I had no interest or motivation to do anything outside of work.

Thanks for the article @AndrewV . I really cant help but think how fruitful it would be if I'm able to have the same motivation and interest for all the 7 days of the week instead of the 2 days of weekend when I'm working on my side projects .
Yeah, quitting a day job is amazing! But it hasn't led me to making any actual money on projects (I've been unemployed for 6 years! haha), so make sure you have runway, and are ready to really work on your product development, sales, and marketing skills.
It's easy to just write code and never get anywhere.
