Ask IH: What SAAS business/app can i build after learning Angular 7 ?

Hi everyone!
I am a sophomore college grad.

And i am the founder at www.grumpytext.com - an online content service for startups and brands which i started in my college already.

We have reached §1200 mrr in dec 2018 already as recurring revenue.

Besides that I am going to step up in SAAS world and want to build something in this field.

From tomorrow my classes for "Angular 7 " is going to start .

So just before that i wanted to know if what kind of software or apps i will be able to build after learning angular 7?

Thanks !

You're putting the technology before the business. It's actually the other way around. Find a problem, then figure out how to solve it.

That then leads one to say: the best thing you can do with Angular from a business point of view is to find a business looking to hire an Angular software engineer ;)

Angular, React, and Vue (the current darlings in this area) are used to create SPAs (single-page applications). Think of them as web apps as opposed to web pages. They're best used behind auth walls, where search engines don't look. Think of any SaaS website that lets you log in and then presents you with a dashboard. They use javascript to modify the single page the user sees, so that there are no page-reload visual breaks and delays. The user experience is great once the page loads, but you need to read up on the pros and cons of this technology versus static web pages: payload size, page load time, caching, SEO, authentication, user experience, client-side and server-side input validation and error handling, and more.

I've created the mailing list called "SaaS Ideas Weekly" - I send an idea of SaaS app in a week. (check it here https://www.saasidea.io/saasideasweekly)
Just keep in mind that knowing Angular, or Vue, or any other frontend technology you can create any SaaS project but it's not enough - you need to know about the backend and beyond.

      Thanks @Zencentric
What things or language further i need to learn the backend?

And do you mean then that the angular 7 is for learning front end only.

I’m currently using Angular 6 with Firebase and finding that to be an quick combination if you wanted to have a go at a BAAS approach. Still quite a bit to learn though and document databases might not be the best solution for whatever you end up building. It does come with some cool stuff though like Auth is basically plug and play, real-time data which works nicely with Angular observable model. I’m super keen to get into the app insights and split testing/analytics you can do with it as well. Also even the blaze plan is pretty generous. Things I would otherwise have spent a really long time trying to make for what will end up being a simple app.

I don't know if you can use Angular 7 for the backend. I have experience only with AngularJS and I couldn't use it for this purpose. From my understanding, it's rather a frontend technology. If you know JS you can use Node.js/Express for your backend.

For backend i have learned java core. Is it sufficient for backend?

Yes, there are frameworks that allow creating websites - I worked with Spring a little bit, it works well. As for me I currently work with Flask and I have to admit it's easiest of all the frameworks I learned before (my experience included .Net, Node.js, Java).
