Ask IH: What was the best and/or worst experience you had with a chatbot?
I've launched a Covid-19 bot on Product Hunt two days ago.
Many loved our work and understood the purpose of the product!
But I also received a few comments from chatbot haters. They seemed to have previous bad experience and put all the chatbots in the same basket.
So, tell me, what was the best and/or worst experience you had with a chatbot? What was the use case? 🙂
A problem with chatbots is that they can quickly narrow the focus and get to the final response, but this is dangerous in many cases, especially legal and health. People don't know what they don't know, and if they can't see the options then they can't always make an informed decision.
I realized this when I was building a bot for legal, but I couldn't make a conversation flow that would ensure the user didn't bypass things they probably should see, so I opted for a dynamic form instead.

You can replace your dynamic form by a rule-based chatbot. All conversations scenarios a pre-defined and the bot leads the conversation (as a form does).
The advantage is that you have a conversational interface so the conversion rate is higher.
I get what you're saying, but then it's no longer a "conversation" or "chat". As well, at least in my case, ensuring the user was able to see enough info so that they could make proper choices made for a really bad UI in chatbot format.
Conversion rate is less of a consideration when people are trying to get info about legal or health problems - they really want to know the info. But if you give them info that does not exactly suit their need, then your tool is doomed.
Yes, you are right, "conversion" is not the appropriate word. I meant, "bring your visitor to do the actions you wanted".

Unfortunately, it's not because of a team meltdown. I'm rebuilding it now, and will make some improvements from the feedback I received on the first one. For sure I'll announce it here 😀
