Hey guys, looking to get feedback on a possible product.
The question is...would you pay for a weekly newsletter filled with:
The idea is to deliver possible opportunities for indie hackers.
Would pay $5.99-8.99 per month for this content?
The thing that seems challenging about this is that you're targeting people in the very early stages of starting a business. I'd guess most people like that are pretty price sensitive, and have a hard time justifying expenses like that. If they need your ideas on opportunities, chances are they have no revenue, and so no real budget for business expenses.
I think it'd be much easier to get established businesses to pay for a newsletter. When I was just starting out, I'd think long and hard about a $5/month expense. Now that we have some revenue and other employees, the math is so different. If I can spend $50/month on something that might make a single employee slightly more effective, it's a no-brainer.
I'm not saying it couldn't possibly work, but in a world with tons of free content, I think you'd be better off selling a paid newsletter to businesses that are already making money.
No.
Justin Vincent did something similar to this with https://nugget.one/. He later pivoted and turned it into an online startup academy, mostly aimed at developers.
If I recall, the churn and low price point of a "vetted business idea every day" was not working that well.
He talks about the evolution of it on his podcast, TechZing, if you listen back to the most recent 5-10 episodes.
Good idea, though I think the specific opportunities piece would be more useful if you were able to link it up with something like Flippa or FEI listings?
(Don't know if Flippa do an affiliate scheme.... maybe?)
If you do decide to do this, have a look at my product Trolley for taking your subscription fees - I'd love to work with other IH members to get our products off the ground together :)
Not just some random micro niches but trending and growing micro niches. But Yes I would.
This is a similar service but has problems: https://meetglimpse.com/?ref=producthunt
Cons I have:

One of the best known is the (highly successful) Stratechery by Ben Thompson.
He blogs on Silicon Valley and IT industry news & strategy.
Short versions are on the blog & free email; much more detailed analysis (at the level that's it's very useful to VC researchers) on the paid newsletter.
