Auto-Caption Generation Tool for shorts, reels & tiktok.

Hey everyone 👋

For the past 2+ months I’ve been working on a side project called CresStudio — a tool that generates captions for short-form videos like YouTube Shorts, TikTok and Instagram Reels.

The idea came from a simple observation: captions make a huge difference in engagement, but creating them manually takes a lot of time. Most creators either edit them frame by frame or use tools that don’t give much flexibility.

So I decided to try building something better.

The stack has been quite interesting. I’m using Remotion to generate videos programmatically, which was both powerful and challenging. Handling rendering performance, caption timing, and exporting videos reliably took many iterations to get right.

Since I’m bootstrapping this myself, everything has been self-funded so far. Outside of development, I’ve been spending a lot of time learning SEO, writing content, and trying to figure out distribution — which honestly feels just as hard as building the product.

Right now CresStudio can generate AI captions and apply different caption styles designed for short-form content. The goal is to help creators turn raw videos into captioned content quickly.
