What's your take on this?

Another good one by Fred Wilson!

I think he says it all in the last paragraph:

"Not all money is the same. The people that come with it and who are behind it matter. That has always been the case and remains the case and we are reminded of it from time to time."

    I absolutely agree with him.
Founders should know where the money comes from and what is the personal/professional interest of the LPs in terms of financial gain, motivation to invest in a certain vertical, technology, trends, and performance expectations (eventual success or failure event of a startup).

Lately, I've been talking to a lot of private investor funds in the EU. Primarily, their size is not as big (5-25 million euros) since we're at the early stage of development and we're looking for a small pre-seed ticket.

My observations are that not many VCs are open to sharing who their LPs are due to privacy concerns, which I definitely understand to some degree. On the other hand, VCs usually preach that transparency leads to trust building but by not sharing some info (which in some cases is understandable), such kind of practices are definitely not being strongly supported.
