Avoid These Common Cold Email Mistakes (Part 2)

In this follow-up to my previous post, I will be discussing common mistakes that can harm email deliverability in cold email campaigns. To ensure successful campaigns, it's important to avoid the following errors:

High frequency sending

The frequency of your campaigns, or how quickly emails are sent, can be viewed as a spam attack by the recipient's email service provider and result in your emails going to the spam folder.

Low engagement with new domains

Buying new domains and immediately sending cold emails can harm your campaigns as there is no prior sending history for these domains, making them appear suspicious. To build positive engagement, wait at least two weeks before launching your campaigns, and consider the age of the domain as well.

Using promotional language

Utilizing excessive or salsy language in your subject line and body can trigger AI filters to flag your emails as promotional or spam, affecting the visibility and placement of your emails.

Generic sender email address

Emails sent from generic addresses like [email protected] or [email protected] can negatively impact your campaigns as AI filters may view them as spam or promotional.

24/7 sending

Sending emails around the clock, without a set schedule, can be a mistake, especially for B2B cold email. It's best to schedule your campaigns during normal office hours.

Over-following up

Email follow-ups can be effective, but scheduling too many can quickly increase the sending volume and frequency, leading to potential negative effects. Aim to send no more than three follow-ups.
