Hey hackers!

I'm looking to get some actionable feedback on a landing page for my next product, Released: https://released.xyz/

My goal is to have an early alpha version available for users within the next week or two!

Thanks for your #landing-page-feedback in advance!

Hi Owen :) Congrats on getting close to alpha! Here are a few quick thoughts as a copywriter...

    • Full bleed hero sections (on small screens at least) tend to act as scroll blockers -- it looks like the entire page is just a few lines and a form.
    • "Releases done right" is a good enough tag line for what you're aiming to achieve with the product, but it's not a strong headline. I'd love to see you unpack that into a longer, two-line headline that hits on a who (market) and why (pain point you solve). Google headline formulas if you're stuck. Copywriting is first and foremost about knowledge transfer, and this doesn't convey enough information for me to understand the offering.
    • The subhead is slightly better — switching subhead & header is a common copywriting trick and would improve things a bit here.
    • Try thinking in terms of the the classic PAS copywriting framework -- outline the pain (something stronger than "taking the effort out..."), agitate it, make me feel it and relate to it, and then tell me why you're solution is much better.

    Moving down the page...

    • "Features" shouldn't be a header, instead as a start rework "The main goal of Released is to make the release portion of your software development lifecycle the easiest part of your day" as the header, e.g. Released makes the release portion of your software development lifecycle the easiest part of your day, and then elaborate why. Show as well as tell.
    • Cut back on the illustrations and add more bullet points, ideally in a single column. Why is your product desirable? Show me examples of e.g. release notes.
    • Show me a screenshot -- e.g. what kind of software is this?
    • "There’s a lot more under the hood, and we’re only just getting started." is irrelevant to me here and now. If you do one or two things really well, great, I want to try! But I'd keep the focus on those core features.

    More broadly...

    • Have you done much customer research into this issue? How do prospects describe this pain? Or if it's a scratch-your-own-itch thing and someone asked you to describe why it's a problem, what would you say?

My 3c, hope that helps :)

      Wowowow! Thank you so much!

I'll definitely need to spend some time thinking about the best way to describe Released. IMO, it's pretty meta with a lot of stuff happening in the background that users don't really see.

I really appreciate your in-depth feedback. I've updated the page a bit based on your feedback to remove some of the more vague lines, and add a bit more detail.

      Thanks again!
