How much time would you give to develop a v0.1 of an application before shipping it to your first customer?
Back when I did Scoutzie, it took me about 3 months (I was learning) of development, on boarding, and design, to get from nothing to public launch. That was exciting, but also very long.
For those of you with projects that got recurring revenue from your customers, how much time did you put into the first public (private beta?) version of your software?
It depends a lot on what you are making. I think get your core feature right and launch it. Improve on it after.
I think between 4 and 8 weeks, if you have something functional just put it online and invite people to try it.
Complexity matters. If it has three features may be a short time. But most SaaS worth a customers money takes a while.
Under a week to make a v0.1 for most things, including my current project.
Since my software is pretty much entirely for the purpose of delivering content, emailing and billing, I built up a lot of content and didn't start charging until after 6 months.
Weeks - you don't need much to (in)validate an idea!
lol. love the accent on invalidation. very true
