Back in the Saddle: The Payhere Reacquisition Story

Hey Indie Hackers! Thought I’d share a little update on Payhere that might resonate with some of you who’ve been through the founder journey.

Last year, we quietly reacquired Payhere from the US company who purchased it back in 2021. No juicy acquisition details to share (sorry!), but what matters is that we’re back at the helm of the product we built.

Since then, we’ve been in stealth mode - mostly answering customer support tickets (turns out our users are pretty self-sufficient - only 30-60 minutes of support needed weekly!), handling major Rails upgrades, and keeping the infrastructure humming.

The cool thing? While we’ve been heads down on other projects, Payhere has continued to be the backbone payment solution for thousands of merchants across 100+ countries. These businesses rely on our simple payment links for everything from one-off payments to complex subscription models. We’ve processed north of $25M in transactions, which feels pretty surreal for a product we haven’t actively promoted in a while.

We haven’t added any shiny new features yet - we’ve had our hands full with other projects. But here’s where it gets interesting: we’re back and carving out dedicated time for Payhere again. We’re exploring growth opportunities in specific niches where that magical combination of no-code simplicity and low fees (just 1% on top of Stripe) really shines.

For those who’ve been through acquisition and reacquisition - or are thinking about that path - happy to chat about the experience in the comments. It’s been quite the journey!
