After my previous landing page update cut my conversion rate in half, I'm giving things another go with less copy once again.
I've also taken the entire website down a different path visually, refining sizing, going mobile-first, and opting for a dark palette.
Does the new style look alright? What kind of tone do you get from the landing page? And could this page be made even simpler?
Thanks in advance!

Hey @triangle! I'm not sure what your copy was before, but I would say that the copy in this version may be having an impact on conversion. In general, the aim shouldn't be to use less copy per se, but to say as much as possible in a succinct way. Right now, your copy is quite vague and high level - on first glance/scroll I struggled to understand what it is exactly that your product is. This isn't helped by the fact that the visual style is quite busy, so all in all it's a bit confusing.
Aim to have more action focused copy, that presents your product/features as a series of benefits for the visitor. For example "You know it's more fun with a helping hand", doesn't tell me anything at all about what I get from your tool. It also could be talking about anything. Try to be much more specific and compelling in how you present your value props.
If you need a hand with this, drop me a line at dani@scribly.io - we have low cost packages to get you set up with landing page copy that's designed to convert, if that would be helpful :)
What was your headline and subheading before the revamp? From reading, it looks like a fun concept, but 'drawing and play' sounds a bit... uncompelling to me.
Previous headlines included things like:
I’ve been wondering if those were too in your face, so I’m trying out something a bit more grounded. You’re right though... it’s a bit unexciting
Hey Matthew, fwiw, here are some comments:
• The first impression is that upon landing there are a lot of colorful rectangles, which for this viewer, distracted the eye from the value proposition and call-to-action. They get lost in the visual competition with all the other bright stuff.
• "A friendly community for drawing and play" is more of a pitch to an investor or journalist -- you might try leading with what I, the potential user, can do with Paneljam.
• You have three calls to action above the fold "DRAW FOR FREE", "PLAY NOW", "BROWSE COMICS" -- can you get that down to two or maybe even one?
• Do you have any metrics on the CTR for all the other links on the page (below the fold)? What would happen if you removed everything except perhaps the Insta panel and the footer?
Cheers, HTH
Thanks! I've updated the page considering your feedback.
