"Backlogs are horrible. You don't need them" – Jason Fried. Do you agree?

I do. I rarely go through my backlog and pull things into a sprint. A lot of times it’s based on more near term ideas, business priorities, customer requests and so forth.
However, the problem still remains how do you track all these requests and ideas? Where do you log and remember them? But then if you do, the list grows and grows until it becomes the backlog. It’s a circle that has no point of exit.
The concept is fine, I.e. it’s basically a to-do list the way most teams treat them. But the name carries too much baggage - makes you feel like you’re already late before you’ve even started!!
