Balkans and Hidden Gems

Hey Indie Hackers πŸ‘‹

Curious to hear your experiences β€”
Have you ever visited the Balkans?

Which country left the strongest impression on you and why?

What cities or hidden gems did you explore?

Where did you work from?

What brought you to the Balkans in the first place β€” affordability, nature, people, culture, or something else?

What was your general experience like as a remote worker or traveler here?

And if you've left β€” what would you love to see improved or changed?

I'm building something special focused on rural tourism and hidden gems in the region, so your feedback means a lot!

Thanks in advance πŸ™
Happy to share recs or ideas if anyone's planning a trip too!

Lots of questions in one go )) I live and travelled all but one Balkan country, I’ll choose two questions to answer:

And if you've left β€” what would you love to see improved or changed? I would say quality of service is what I like to be improved, majority of countries in the Balkans struggle with this point, but it won’t be easy as its rooted in the life and expectations (lowered by default) of people in these countries. All services, from tourist related to basic but important needs for personal/business, such as accountants, tax, law, banking, animal services, etc.

What brought you to the Balkans in the first place β€” affordability, nature, people, culture, or something else? Wonderful nature across all of these countries combined with good people, especially outside cities. Mountains are amazing, different food, rivers and seas. Additional benefit - low taxes working remotely if you have residency in certain countries, one of the best in EU.
