Banter - Stay in touch with the people you care about through video messages

Hey folks! I'm working on Banter, which is a mobile app that lets you have conversations through video messages. It's particularly useful for staying in touch with people who live far away from you.

I'm looking for feedback on my landing page: https://getbanter.io/

Namely, whether it's clear what the app does, and whether the copy is persuasive enough -- but any other feedback is appreciated as well.

Thanks!

I'm padding you some straight feedback after watching the landing page on my iPhone 7:

    • on my iPhone about 1/3th of the screen is empty. it is the space between the logo and the bold title.. Make that less (especially on mobile) since everything above the fold (on the first screen) has the best chance of being viewed /read
    • make a call to action. I see the download buttons but there is no statement: start now, get going for free now, create an account, whatever. Make obvious what you want me to do and ask it (above the page fold preferably)
    • either create smaller paragraphs that are straight forward or add a Bullet point summary with the value that your app provides.
    • interview 20 people and ask them how they keep in contact with their close once and if video is used. Ask them.how they're using video right now. Write down the most used methods and address how your solution works better compared to them (bullet wise would work)
    • if it isn't clear if an app is free or what cost is involved I'm always hesitating to install. It might be just me but I like clarity
    • your product is about video contact. I suggest some moving footage on your landing page instead of a still screenshot. Record your phone screen and add one or two animations showing the apps simple flow. Ie: on an app recording the iPhone screen using QuickTime, and converting that into a small animated gif could work (using giphy creator for instance)

    Hope this helps!

I started the mobile app developer part of my career with building a small app to send groups in your contact book an email all at once. It feels similar since it uses the contacts. Love the simplicity and low barrier this bears. Keep at it 🙌🏻👌🏻

A lot of great stuff here! Thanks for taking the time to look at my landing page, and for the encouragement. It's highly appreciated ✌

Hey there.. the page looks good but one thing for me is its not making clear how this app is better than just sending videos back and forth with the stock iMessage app.

Nice feedback! I hear this a lot. I'll probably add a FAQs section in order to address this.

Same for Marco Polo. That is what our family uses for this.

    Hi Richard

I like the idea of the app.
I'd highlight some of the text in the sections as they are quite long paragraphs and people usually scroll and dont stop to read it all.

Maybe add small anymations to reveal the images from the sides to add a small touch.

    Hope that helps!

Thanks! Good feedback about the text, the sections are quite long :)
