Be honest: how broken is your client onboarding right now?

Be honest with me.

After a client signs… what actually happens?

For a lot of service businesses I’ve talked to, it’s some mix of:

  • a Notion checklist nobody updates

  • a Drive folder named Client_Final_FINAL_v3

  • “can you resend that file?” on WhatsApp

  • a form they filled out once… then silence

And then the owner has zero idea who’s stuck until a kickoff slips.

Here’s my hot take:

Winning the deal is not the hard part. Looking competent in the first 14 days is.

Clients don’t remember your proposal deck.
They remember whether onboarding felt calm… or like a scavenger hunt.

I’m building Synerdeck because of this mess — branded magic-link portals, templates, progress, docs, reminders (clients don’t create an account).

But I’m not posting to pitch.

I want the ugly truth from people who sell services:

What’s the most chaotic client onboarding moment you’ve lived through?

Drop the story. Even if it’s embarrassing. Especially if it’s embarrassing.

I’ll go first in the comments if this gets going.
