Beekeeper Studio - 10x YoY growth, starting to think about revenue (Open source DB client)

👋 Hey everyone, I'm one of the co-creators of Beekeeper Studio.

Beekeeper Studio is an open source app for managing relational databases. It's cross platform (MacOS, Linux, Windows), and works with a bunch of relational databases (PSQL, SQLite, MySQL, SQL Server, Redshift, and more).

It doesn't make any money yet, but the first 18 months have been so beyond expectations that we're getting more serious about building a sustainable revenue source for it. In short, we're about to become Indie Hackers.

Open source development has been fantastic for our growth. We launched in April 2020, but since August we've grown 10x. Our target market (developers like us) really trust open source, and we're making sure to not break that trust.
