This is the first time I share this with anyone and I'm doing it publicly . I wanted to post this story here because I've been in a startup world for many years. The feeling I'm about to describe pushed me to keep on trying and building new startups, new products and projects.
I feel like it's very unusual and weird to be motivated by rage and fear but again it's so normal from my perspective. Those two are perceived as negative emotions. People are usually motivated by positive things, love, success... I decided to share what motivates me and why those 2 emotions motivate me.
I wrote an article on Medium about it. I might share more stories about my failures, things I learned along the way, how startups changed me as a person...
Feel free to give me any feedback you may have. What do you think about it? Is it bad or good from your perspective? What motivates you?
I spent 12 months in fear and rage as a CEO for a startup. It was not motivating. Instead, it kept me from being creative and staying focused. It even stopped me from enjoying the good moments. Right now I am focused on building a company on my terms without the fear and it is so much better.
Being in a fear state is not healthy. Neither is prolonged anger. Ask yourself why you are feeling this way. Failure is part of it. Just learn and move on. Exercise daily and eat healthy.
I totally agree that it blocks you from enjoying the good moments.
I decided to do what you suggested in your last few sentences :)
your two emotions are perfectly normal rage will keep you going and fear will keep you on your toes i feel like you need this in a way it pushes you to unknown limits and can even surprise yourself by your success when you finally sit down and soak it in
