I'm not huge fan of it locking content and requiring me to post something to see something—so I don't bother using it. I also don't like how it hijacks my bottom swipebar—can get out of it by using the control center on IOS.

"The app uses both the front and back camera to give users a candid view of what’s happening at that moment."

This reminded me of the Beeme app that Casey Neistat had people working on before the team got bought by cnn.

    Seems gimmicky from the description:

BeReal prompts users to take one unedited photo a day at a seemingly random time and is meant to share candid, unfiltered moments. The company is reportedly being valued at $600 million.

That said, this is a good opportunity to be an early adopter of something new.

Nobody knows but there's definitely a trend towards apps where you show your authentic self.

Let me start first. There seems to be a larger trend towards apps where people are more "authentic" (think TikTok vs. Instagram). BeReal is another app going mainstream that seems to capture this trend. So I think there's a potential for them to become at least the size of Clubhouse.
