Best App Developer... Not on Fiverr?
Im looking to create an app this is almost idential to Venmo & its features but a few differences and changes in display & features in order to make it unique.
With this being my first time I am wondering if someone can point me into the right direction on where to inquire about getting this developed? I am skeptical with using platforms like Fiverr for app creations as I dont want to waste money on a mediocre product. Capital is definitely not unlimited so I'm going to have to keep that in mind!
Is anyone able to give me some advice on where to look?
Building Venmo with Fiverr? Yeah, it does not sound like a good idea :)
If you want to build something big, then maybe you should look for a technical co-founder?
Or you can go into a "start-up" studio. They basically build your product in exchange for some shares of your company.
If you have some budget and don't want to share, then go for a developer agency. There is some pretty decent one in the US or UE.
Thanks for the response! Yes I definitely dont intent to use Fiverr for a project of this scale however I had found some of my top designers/freelancers on that website so I do stand behind some parts of what they have to offer!
A tech co founder would be a great idea to be honest. Someone with experience to help bring a project like this to life. I am not 100% familiar on where to find someone like this but Ill do some homework.
Also I have never heard of a "start up studio." Is this just a VC firm or just a phrase for finding someone willing to do the developing work in exchange for equity?
My budget is tight but depending on what I can receive for quotes it may be possible.

Someone I know successfully used Upwork to find an awesome developer in Eastern Europe for a startup. The developer was a top notch coder with a solid Computer Science degree and the prices were quite reasonable. As an aside, I am an iOS developer (but I don't freelance so I am not trying to sell you anything ha ha). If you want to video chat I can offer some free (but I cannot verify good) advice in general about hiring freelancers. I'm also from Boston.

Perhaps take a look at Upwork? A buddy of mine who went through HAX with me found a developer on their who eventually converted to his co-founder after a few app iterations. Maybe you can find similar luck?
Sounds great! Ive actually hired via Upwork before. Completely forgot about that website. Prices tend to be a bit higher than Fiverr or other freelancing websites however seems like the freelancers seem a bit more profession. Thanks!
