Best approach to building an online course
What are some valuable resources for learning how to build an effective online course?
I want to build an online video course, probably using a platform like Podia. I know my target audience and I'm competent on the subject matter. But I have little experience with building a syllabus, constructing exercises, and making a course which people will find valuable.
Given the abundance of quality courses out there, I'm almost certain other have constructed formulas for building courses (perhaps even built courses for about building courses!)
What are the best resources you all would recommend?
I'd add to the conversation that there is no right or wrong. Use quality audio gear; try to have a decent video. Cut and edit your videos. Remove friction. Let coworkers or people familiar with the topic watch it for free to collect feedback.
Platforms like Udemy provide a lot of free courses on how to create courses :)

Second that.
I would start by researching similar courses on Udemy. And try to add your personal twist to the syllabus that you think would be helpful for students so that your course stands out.
You're right about course building courses. I've watched a few youtube vids and signed up for a few free trials. The approach is similar. Brain dump what you know into brief notes, organize into modules etc.
