Sky Sports on top of the Sky Ireland package, plus Premier Sports for the rugby, was costing me more than €60 a month, and I still could not watch every match I wanted. That stopped making sense last season. I spent 4 months testing whether a single IPTV service could carry the lot, and the answer genuinely surprised me.
No Card Needed
GAA, Rugby, Premier League Included
THE WEEKEND I ACTUALLY TESTED THIS
I picked a packed weekend — URC on the Saturday, hurling and a Premier League game on the Sunday — and ran four services side by side on four devices, same room, same connection.
By half time the pattern was obvious. Two held a clean 60fps picture the whole way through. One dropped to a soft, smeared image every time a match went to the break and everyone flipped channels at once. The fourth simply stopped and needed restarting.
That weekend told me more than three months of reading comparison tables.
WHAT A SPORTS-FIRST IPTV service HAS TO GET RIGHT
Match day is the only benchmark that counts, and it is unforgiving.
The channels that actually carry the GAA, the rugby, the football and the racing, live and in HD at minimum.
Stability on Championship Sundays, Six Nations weekends and European nights.
Two or three simultaneous streams, because someone always wants the other match.
A guide that reflects what is really on, not last week's schedule.
No nasty surprises on the one fixture you sat down for.
MY VERDICT AFTER A FULL YEAR OF SPORT
Matches missed because of the service: none worth complaining about. Matches missed because I got the throw-in time wrong: several.
What mattered: the GAA, the rugby and the football being live and stable when it counted — right through to the All-Ireland finals at Croke Park and a full Cheltenham week — and running a second match in another room without either picture degrading.
What did not matter: the thousands of channels I never opened once.
If your weekends revolve around the GAA, the rugby or the football, Northpeaktv is the one that held up for me through a full year of fixtures. Try it on a Championship Sunday or a Six Nations Saturday — that is the only test that counts. Full channel list and pricing at https://northpeaktv.com.
