Hey everyone. I'm hoping to track user engagement for our online courses (time on page, session duration) in a way that makes it easy to see metrics for specific users or in aggregate. Have you used any tools or libraries that are good for this purpose? Is it possible to accomplish this in Google analytics?
I would recommend a tool like Amplitude (or their competitors) for this, because it'll also be well suited to deeper product analytics further down the line.
I would also suggest you consider alternative ways to measure engagement - funnels are typically more informative than time on page/session duration for this kind of product.
Let me know if you want some more detailed advice - analysing user engagement for online courses was my full time job for several years :)
@TimothyD Thanks!! One use case for tracking this is reporting user statistics back to stakeholders - for example, we want to be able to go to organizations using us and say, "Your users spent a total of X hours last month on our platform." Let me know if you have any other insights / want to chat more offline :)
