I'm starting a paid newsletter but curious on if anyone has pointers or recommended articles/guides on the best tools and practices for building, curating, and ultimately promoting/marketing.
Some specific questions i have in mind:
should I do a free trial?
should the newsletter be daily, weekly, or monthly?
in addition to typical promotion, should I start with paid advertising?
Hey @elijahmurray.
A free trial isn't necessary; you could have some free issues available online for anyone who wants to "try" your content before purchasing. You can see this in play on Substack.
Being consistent is important, but the frequency can be determined by you. People are paying you based on what you offer them. Put out content at a rate that is sustainable in the long run (you're entering a kind of contract when people start paying you).
Hope this helps!

100% agreed on consistency. Thanks!
Hey Elijah, you might find this interview helpful.
Gave it a listen, thanks! Didn't find it as useful as the second Indie Hacker interview with Sam Parr though.

Appreciate the input Juris! And I completely agree that it's harder than it sounds–consistency can be a pain in the ass.
Thanks for the substack podcast recommendation.
