Best way to build a content site? SEO?

Hey Guys,

I'm not very knowledgeable about SEO.

I'm trying to fix this by building a content site and trying to make some ad revenue off it.

What's the best way to build the content site if I want to optimize for SEO?

Wordpress, Squarespace, Weebly? Something else?

Build my own content site with NextJS? (I have a background in software btw).

Are CMS's already pre-optimized for SEO... so would building my own site be a bad idea vs using an existing provider?

I prefer WordPress but for a content site, content matters the most. Usually people come with typical topics and content which is already present on the web but if you want to engage more traffic then you will have to cover the topics which are not already present on the web. Unique and SEO friendly content is a must. After having content you can consider SEO.

WordPress does a good job in interlinking. A SEO plugin like Yoast SEO can also help you.

Hey, Ahrefs just made their $900 course "blogging for business" free, which is exactly what you are looking for :)

As far a technology, you'll want to do a static site for the loading speed, which will benefit SEO. Everything else is personal preference!

Check out the plenty of example guides from netlify.com or render.com, and I personally use forestry.io as a headless, free CMS

+1 take the Ahrefs course! I used to think SEO was magic. While the course may not make you an SEO guru instantly, it'll open your eyes to what you don't know and how to improve.
