Hey!
I want to start a completely free newsletter that has a referral program. I'm thinking something very similar to theSkimm (https://www.theskimm.com/).
What would be the best approach to take here? I've explored a bunch of platforms but I'm not 100% convinced.
I would need an extremely simple landing page that I could build with HTML or next.js and I could probably go with EmailOctopus + SES for emails, but I truly don't know how to build an effective referral program for the newsletter.
I'd like to give cool stuff to subscribers that refer eg. 5, 10, 25, 50 friends.
I have enjoyed using sparkloop.app
Looks good, thank you!
@slb Have you tried Vyper and ReferralCandy?
I'm also wanting to implement a referral mechanism for my side project and newsletter, keen to exchange ideas along the journey!
Hey @slb - Good news, I just launched a tool for the referral part a few days ago and shared my story here: https://www.indiehackers.com/product/firewards/building-an-email-referral-service--M9yewoTFEniW1hyCZQc 🥳 It currently works with Mailchimp, ConvertKit and SendGrid, but I am going to launch an EmailOctopus integration next week, too!
You can build the exact same referral program like Morning Brew or TheSkimm with it. Happy to assist you (and others 😀) setting it up, just DM or Email me if you have any questions. -> www.firewards.com
Really nice product! Thank you for the suggestion and congrats, will try it out for sure.
Thanks! I'll let you know once the EmailOctopus integration is ready 🙌
Please do!

Hey @slb, I sell simple and easy-to-use HTML templates on my site BuildFaster. I currently have a few newsletter templates you should check out:
Classic Paper: gum.co/jofXTx
Half Half: gum.co/CqlLdt
Lightning Blue News: gum.co/eiWEdR
Top Tech: gum.co/jWqzZ
All you would have to do is add the form submit link sending the email to your EmailOctopus account.
Let me know if you have questions :)
That's awesome! Will check it out for sure! ;)
Cool! Let me know if one pops out to you 😉
