I’m taking a similar approach with a small utility project in Pakistan. Instead of building a broad platform, I focused on one specific problem: making it easier for IESCO customers to check their electricity bill information online.
I’ve been working on the project around long-tail searches such as checking the bill amount, due date, and getting a duplicate bill. It’s been a useful learning experience in terms of SEO, user intent, and building a simple tool around a very specific need.

This is what we are trying to do.
We release open source tools https://github.com/BaseSecrete (mostly Ruby on Rails).
We do this because :
I think writing is such a skill that is super powerful. Someone from your team should work on it.
If you can do, your product can be unstoppable.
You can then subtly promote your product on tech websites ( hackernoon & other sub reddits that are relevant to your niche)
There's a whole tech market waiting. Especially Twitter.
But yeah as I said, Side Projects can be really effective & can drive a good healthy traffic.

Hehe. Not much work to build that. It was an easy one. I just have research & analytical mindset. So if anything catches my eye & looks interesting & doable, I do it ( if it doesn't take too much time)
Just try to see what new/interesting things people are doing & analyze if it can be replicable to your niche/project without entirely copying it. Improvise it.
That's how you can learn & build new things.
