I built Chestr.App with a friend – Chestr is a Chrome extension that lets you save products and monitor discounts from every store online.
We got around 300 installs from some subReddit and our PH launch, out of which 100 users use the extension every month. So I believe there's something there.
But now I'm not sure how to promote the Chrome extension in a way that's not just paid ads. Would be grateful for any advice or suggestions!
Try to get the Featured Badge. It boosts your visibility within the Chrome WebStore significantly.
I shared my experience here:

Another question Daniel: what did you do to convert those impressions to installs? Any insights there?
That is beyond our controls. I don’t even know where Google show my extension lol. But definitely pay attention to the promo images. Make it enticing and easy to understand
Thank you, Daniel, this is great! We got the Featured but not the verified URL. We'll try to get that asap.
Awesome. I see they no more accept manual suggestions from developers. But they may look at your images and code and feature it. But is hard imo.
The Chestr.App looks awesome! I am sure you have your target customer dialed in - are you considering the young customer audience? (teens, early adult)? My teen loves to browse and add items to shopping carts from a variety of stores and then wait for stuff to go on sale. But unless she is logged into all the stores, she loses her cart. A wishlist sounds like the perfect way to keep track of everything. Someone mentioned this, but I second that Tik Tok is the way to go here. Good luck!
That's great to hear!! We are releasing a major update soon – including an iPhone app so I'm sure your daughter will appreciate it. And you're 100% right: our main strategy will be around TikTok as soon as we release our iPhone app 😄
Interesting product! Don't look at it as a Chrome Extension, it's a business/product.
You're consumer-based, and at the moment the best platform for consumer products is TikTok. And your product seems perfect fo that!
So, create some fun TikTok/Reels videos that explain the product, and you might just go viral!
Try content marketing, f.e. lists aka Best Google Extensions For Remote Work https://medium.com/@softwareobserver/best-google-chrome-extensions-for-remote-work-46535d2fda5f and add there your extension. Btw we can add your extension in this article, just give some info.
This is great I was wondering if you could add our extension to your list as well. It tracks opens for Gmail users so they can have more timely conversations and spend more time on people actually reading their emails.. Emailopentracker.com
Thanks I’m advance!
Hi there,
May I also share my chrome extension with you to post on your article? I believe it fits in the subject you write about in the article.

I would love to! Where can I send you the info?
you can add this info here with a link on your app

Thanks a lot!!!
Interesting tool, I added it to my article, please share
Nice thought!
I myself am building a Gmail backend extension and would definitely benefit from this.
Yes we ran Facebook Ads for a client on about of about $3k a month and were getting to a cost per download they were after. It's not cheap for sure though, especially if you don't have a financial return built in.
SEO? To suggest big classic obvious one?
Yeah, since Chestr is free, paid ads are not quite the solution rn. But SEO is a great tip!
Cool idea. I also liked your about us page. Olivia is a good friend :)
As for getting more users. Consider building a blog on your site. Look for your competitors and check what type of content they write. Try to create something better.
Open a Medium account as well. Focus on your Medium account on alternative lists.
Example of how your title should look like:
[COMPETITOR NAME] Alternatives: Top [YEAR] Picks For ....
Good luck
We love Olivia! This is great advice, thank you so much.

Improving your Chrome extension search ranking is the best way to acquire users.
Have you tried what words to search for your extension in the Chrome Web Store. Does your extension rank among the top search results for these terms? If not, you need to find a way to change this situation.
