Best ways to raise awareness of a podcast

In my limited experience helping podcasters with marketing... the most effective way is guest hosting on podcasts with similar audiences.

You can also cross post episodes. So I'd start building relationships with other podcasters in your niche.

If you have a budget, what the guys at My First Million did was really smart... They had a contest for $5k to whoever could take clips of the pod and get the most views on TikTok. They had millions of impressions from people trying to win, eclipsing what they could have gotten from $5k in ad sales.

The latter strategy obviously requires a larger audience and some cash. I'd focus on the cross posting strategy first.

Social listening tools can also be useful. Set one up for people on Twitter talking about the same topics as your podcast. Then jump into the comments with a "hey we just did an episode on this two weeks ago "link".

Hope that helps!

"Social listening tools can also be useful..." — @eh_tk any recommendations for this?

You can try syften.com. It monitors Reddit, Twitter, Indie Hackers, Slacks and other communities. If you find one customer it pays for itself.

Depends on your budget, they can get pretty pricy.

The easiest and cheapest in my opinion is setting up TweetDeck. It's basic but it's owned by twitter.

Add a column, search for specific keywords, and filter by new. Then you can pop in once or twice a day and see if anyone is talking about your niche.

Ah yeah, I'd set up TweetDeck before like that. Just wondered what other solutions there is.

Gummysearch looks great for Reddit, but Im not really looking for something for Reddit. More like FB groups and Twitter albeit I've the latter covered with TweetDeck, but thought there might be something like Gummysearch for other platforms.
