Last week I posted about how to get the best feedback from a beta test, and I got some great ideas from the community.
This time, I'm looking to see what strategies you all use for beta testing an application. We've struggled to find relevant beta testers for https://ideaisland.io , and it got me to thinking, how do others run a beta test, and for how long? Do you pay for services like UserTesting, Fiverr or BetaFamily to get beta users? Do you start sales early and try to get potential customers to beta test? This would make the most sense, but it feels wrong to sell a beta version of an app that still needs testing and feedback. What other strategies do you use to test an app and get feedback?
I'm a bit lost in this, and any help would be much appreciated!
If your product provides value by saving time and money for people - don't be afraid to charge it.
Imagine you land in the other part of the world and have to take a bus to another city. Yes, the bus smells badly and packed with people - but it still costs money. Why? Cause it does the job by getting you to X. If your product does the job - charge for it.
Better don't outsource anything until first 20 customers, nobody knows value of your tool better than you.
