Better monetizing communities

Over the last year I've joined many amazing Slack, Discord & FB communities. The best ones are actively managed by a small group of owners/creators to moderate content & create high-quality discussions. I've been thinking about ways in which these owners could monetize better and be rewarded for their work. Sharing some (loosely formed) ideas below, all relying on the fact that these community owners have concentrated access to a specific type of audience -

  1. Job boards - facilitate access to employers looking to hire from your community

  2. Research & surveys - for research firms and companies, communities could be a great channel to recruit participants for research and gather data.

  3. Sales - most professional communities have a long list of businesses trying to sell to their users. If there was a way to structure this (e.g. a weekly demo opportunity), it might lead to better matching overall & lesser noise.

Would love to hear any feedback and examples of these (or other ideas) being implemented.
