Better Stripe<>Slack notifications

I've been pretty disappointed with the low quality of information that Slack's Stripe integration provides. It's mostly just a 1:1 transformation of the webhook data into Slack messages, which leaves out a lot of context.

To help me with Pinecast, I've built a tool to deliver (much!) better Slack notifications. Would you pay $10/mo for these for your business?

As far as I’m concerned. I wouldn’t pay for that. We use the Stripe iOS app to stay informed of new payments. It works great! Haven’t tried the Slack integration though!

As they are free-equivalent, as an IH, I would need more things to pay for that.

That's very fair feedback! I suppose this tool wouldn't be so useful for non-recurring payments (though I could provide "previous sales" figures like I do when a customer re-subscribes). My goal is to provide context: "Why is this payment for a weird amount?" "Is this the first time a customer has canceled their subscription?" "Which coupon code did they use?" Even the drive dashboards don't give this info at a glance (for my use case), and they certainly don't tie into my other tools, like Intercom.

Is there anything that you frequently need to look up beyond what's in your payment list? Do you proactively look into Stripe data for customer support?

I take care of churn, MRR, etc. But nothing that the Stripe’s app doesn’t provide. I’m probably not the right person to talk to. I clearly don’t spend much time on that data 🙈

We capture Stripe's webhooks within our SaaS app and send informative messages to Slack using our own app so we know exactly what is going on (i.e. company name, what plan they subscribed to etc.)

We do the same for when customers upgrade/downgrade or cancel their accounts. For this reason, I wouldn't go for a paid service to replicate what we already do in house.

I use Baremetrics for general business metrics, but they also provide Slack notifications for general things like new customers or failed charges but they also can notify you on a weekly and or monthly basis of how you're business is doing compared to this time last week/month which is quite useful.
