Hi again Indie Hackers!
I recently hit a wall with my survival web hub. While it was great for global discovery, it couldn't provide the level of "field-readiness" or "smart management" that a real crisis demands. To bridge that gap, I built BPT Plus.
The Need for Expansion: True preparedness is about more than just data—it’s about efficiency and resource management. I built BPT Plus to bring these advanced capabilities to the palm of your hand:
Smart Stock & Nutrition Management: BPT Plus isn't just a list; it’s an intelligent inventory engine. It automatically calculates total calories and macro-nutrients (Proteins, Carbs, Fats) for your entire stock, ensuring your family has what they actually need to survive, not just a random pile of food.
Integrated Barcode Scanning: To make management painless and accurate, I implemented a native barcode scanner. You can scan items as you buy them to instantly update your inventory and nutritional data. This is a game-changer for avoiding overbuying and wasting money on unnecessary supplies.
Offline Mapping & GPS: In a crisis, you can’t rely on a stable cell signal. BPT Plus features native offline maps with full GPS navigation, allowing you to create custom POIs and Waypoints for marking water sources or evacuation routes.
Hardware-Level Security: Using native Kotlin allowed me to implement encrypted local storage (SQLCipher), ensuring that your mission-critical data stays private and secure.
The Technical Bridge: The biggest hurdle was building the "Sync Engine" between a reactive web app and a native SQLite-based inventory. But the result is a seamless ecosystem: You can choose to plan your nutrition, offgrid backup Power, Fuel on your desktop, and manage your stock and navigation in the field with your phone, make a free account and have all your devices share and update your or Family/Group needs.
I’m currently refining the barcode database integration and would love to hear from anyone working with mobile inventory systems or nutrition APIs!
