Big thing in tech!!

We always wonder what is the next big thing in tech! How about taking a minute to share and appreciate what you believe is the CURRENT big thing!

Nice take on this Jason! Ill go first.

While there is no one big thing there are a few I believe in.

    • The rise of Remote Work is opening up a whole new category of communication tools and HR management
    • The retiring of boomers in specialized industries is creating an opportunity to Web 2.0ify professions that have been lagards. Dentistry, Oil & Gas, Veterinary clinics, law firms etc..
    • Indie Devs will continue to eat the B2B market place spaces
    • Private Equity will continue to get smaller and see portfolios of very small software projects
    • No Code will eat the internal tools and MVP segments
    • The backend will continue to be eaten by services

      Thank you!

While Remote Work is a cool thing and has many positives, I have worked remotely for 6 years and seen the negatives as well. I more advocate for a combination of both. A flexible in office setup.
I don't believe that different generations are competing with each other. I think different generations complement each others. So the retiring of one doesn't create more opportunities for another.
No Code point!! (check my today's post about No-Code)
Also you will always need a backend, someone will have to maintain the backend of the services eating the backend!

      Nice discussion!

        Ooh really glad you replied!

        On remote

I think it's fair to say the remote work is no silver bullet. it's just a different process. But I do think we will see more of it. Either partially in existing companies, fully in new companies or arriving in new industries all together.

Personally Ive worked remote as well as hired remote for the last 6 years and have no plans of ever going back to the office!

        On Generations

Oh there definitely is opportunity between generation shifts! Specifically when you have an old generation of say Veterinarians that have no knowledge of modern tech nor a willingness to learn. Once the decision makers change here so will the tools and processes. This all doesn't mean that old and new generations don't still compliment each other though. They do just not 100% of the time 😉

        On the backend

I mean yeah in the same way you might need a server, but who really has a production server in their closet anymore 😜

          On the backend

I have a server in my closet! However, it is not running! LOL

Although there is being extreme confusion and wrong information given about the following field, I still believe that AI and automation processes is the current big thing in technology. More and more priducts and services aim at making daily tasks automated.

AI is undisputedly the biggest, in all traditional measures (hype + money + jobs + bullshit).

I disagree! To me it is about Machine Learning (at least for now) more than AI.
And I know, AI uses machine learning...

  4. 1

Currently it's all about audio and AI.

What about audio? I never heard of that, do you mean podcasts? what am I missing?
