Biggest pain points with email marketing?
Curious to hear your biggest pain points when it comes to email marketing. Say you have 10,000 users in your database -- how do you send a mass email out to all of them? Or, if you want to target a certain group of them, how do you go about it?
Anything from pricing, templating, time consumption, etc. is fair game. Complain away!
Building HTML emails is my biggest pain point! Thankfully I no longer need to do this anymore but it seems crazy to me that we still need to use tables in 2023 for email - and getting it to look nice across different clients can be a nightmare (looking at you outlook).
Totally agree! And it seems like one of those things that's unlikely to change anytime soon :/ What are you using now instead of plain HTML?
I have a database with 1M+ subscribers and I could write 5000 words of complaints! But here's 3 that are top of mind:
SPAM. Preventing and reducing spam is my nightmare. You block one tactic and another pops up, I'm constantly trying to stop spam from entering our forms while also trying to get it out of the database
Targeting and segmentation. At large scale, personalization is so key. It's really tricky though to get it right because you're segmentation is only as good as the quality of the data you use
Content creation. Especially if you're going a lot of segmentation you need a lot of unique content. It's hard to keep it fresh and entertain your audience. I'm looking forward to some of the new ai tools getting better at this
