Billing - how to do it

Hi all
I'm exploring how to take customers payments and do recurring billing, I think something like recurly.com is a little expensive for me right now.

What are people using? I don't mind self hosted or saas based. Only needs to support PayPal and Stripe, but needs to support recurring invoicing (monthly / yearly).
