BillNotch started with a simple observation: freelancers who bill by the hour don't lose money because their rate is too low. They lose it because half their work never gets tracked.
So I built the tracker I wanted to exist. A desktop app (Windows, Mac, Linux) that records what you work on with no timer to start. AI sorts the hours into projects and you approve its suggestions in a review queue, so nothing gets filed without your say. One click turns tracked time into a PDF invoice your client can pay online. There's a browser extension that enriches categorization with the domains you visit, and calendar sync that turns meetings into suggested entries.
Privacy is a hard rule, not a feature flag: window titles never leave the server, the AI learns only from your own confirmed history, and the extension reports domains only.
It's live at billnotch.com with a 14-day free trial, no card required. Flat pricing, $9/mo.
Right now I'm shipping Stripe payouts so your clients' payments land straight in your own bank account, plus more integrations (QuickBooks, Xero, Slack, Jira are already in). If you bill by the hour, I'd genuinely love to hear what would make you switch.
Now that it’s live, what have you learned from the first people who actually tried BillNotch that you didn’t expect when you were building it?
