Few months I built a dunning tool for Indian payment gateway RazorPay to see if it solves problems of business owners in India.
I learned marketing strategies mostly from American entrepreneurs who quickly build their MVP's and make announcement on twitter to see even anyone's interested.
So I got deeply inspired this same strategy. Built a prototype in 15 days and quickly announced it on twitter using fancy #razorpay hashtag. Sounds great right ?
well, only until you know that only 2 people tried the product over many weeks of period making me realise there aren't enough Indian payment gateway using business owners on twitter.
I blatantly took a foreign approach (American) and applied it in local market (India) not realising the market isn't mature enough to validate ideas at the same speed. All that makes it very for an indie hacker like me to launch products for the Indian market and for now I'll continue to stay focused on building products for western markets until I learn a more localised approach to launching a SaaS product.
Your product seems interesting.
just tweeting about it is not enough. Think about who your users are. They use razorpay (I assume it’s some kind of stripe or PayPal?).
So what kind of users use such a tool? Saas builders, e-commerce owners, concert venues, there’s way more here.
Next find out where they are gathered and post there. Maybe there’s a forum or a fb group. Maybe they use a particular hashtag?
Hey Jellevdv,
Totally agree with your point. The product is basically stripe for India thus a tighter integration with Indian registered businesses. I felt same that not enough tactical marketing has been done which is why I plan retarget the product to other user base within this community. SaaS business do use RazorPay in India but they are way to less.
I was planning just last week to relaunch for Shopify businesses in India who use Razorpay so using the shopify hashtag and also making some youtube videos since there is a community but then came the pandemic. So I'll let things come down and relaunch it.
