Book clubs are about ideas discussed and exchanged
Personally am a voracious reader engulfing 2-3 books a week on average.
The question has always been, however, how do you share your insights and ideas after reading the book instead of posting a picture of a book commenting, "hey, I read that book, too!"
Person-to-person discussion would be the best, but people are busy with different priorities. I'm super interested in creating a threaded discussion group for in-depth conversations about books we have read together. That's always been my challenge.
2-3 books a week is amazing, so jealous!

I think by sharing the key things you have personally learnt from a book is incredibly useful, and encourages discussion with others that may have read, or are reading that book. Everyone has their interpretation when learning from books, and I think sharing this is an excellent way of discussing and exchanging ideas.
The key challenge I have found when trying to bring people together to discuss a book is by providing upfront value, and it's a tough challenge to solve. I currently have a book club website, that I have taken a little bit of a break from to rethink the strategy, as it was getting little to no engagement with other readers.
By providing upfront value, such as offering your key learnings from a book, you're giving a prompt to other readers to interact with you, and it's a brilliant way of invoking discussion.
So in short, it's about providing some form of value to the prospective reader in the first place. Without that initial value, it's hard to get engagement.
