I've been lurking here for a while, and it seems like a lot of bootstrapped companies are selling B2Cish software, like PullReminders, or B2B for smaller comapnies (SMBs), like Simple Analytics. Are there examples of smaller, bootstrapped companies selling to large enterprises? I'd love to read about crossing hurdles like being able to convince a larger enterprise to buy software from a smaller place.
It’s a great post, and there’s a lot that can be said about the entreprise space. The biggest problem being:what defines an enterprise client? Is it their revenue or is it the number of potential users?
The way a small tech team could sell to an entreprise level client is by demonstrating their ability to adapt to client specific scenarios.
While great in theory; hard to adapt to. Imagine building a company and product around say, one enterprise client. What happens if you lose that client?
I would say that you need to be reliable with an amazing track record to be considered by a big enterprise. It's not impossible but they are hard to get, those companies are not risk-takers.
That being said, the way to go would be something like:
The last software implementations in my company did not work well, unfortunately, decision-makers are not the users of the product.
