Bouldering and Startups: How Resilience Ties It All Together

For the past year, I’ve been bouldering, and I’ve realized how much it mirrors startup life. In bouldering, you face a problem—a route you need to solve. There are multiple solutions, or beta, but you need to figure out the best path, just like in startups. You plan your movements, conserve energy, and stay strategic. In startups, the same applies—resource management and careful steps are crucial.

Of course, you don’t “send it” on your first try. It takes resilience to keep going after each fall. In both bouldering and startups, you learn through failure, adapt, and try again.

Sometimes, the route feels impossible—that’s when you pivot to a new challenge, much like adjusting your business strategy when needed.

The key takeaway: resilience is essential in both climbing and startups. It’s not just about reaching the top; it’s about the persistence to keep trying when things get tough.

We’re also building Adsby, and if you have any suggestions (or beta routes!) for us, we’d love to hear them. Let’s help each other grow!

Also, that’s my photo, bouldering. Let’s connect if you’re into both startups and bouldering like me!
