Brainstorming - Revenue model for my career advice platform

Hi guys,

I'd be curious to see what other fellow IH think about how to monetise my career advice platform www.mentory.me

  • Would you take a % of the sessions that are booked between mentors & mentees? (marketplace)
  • Would you charge a subscription to the platform so it allows mentees to book a certain number of sessions per month with mentors (Saas)? This one is tricky because if a mentee books sessions with several mentors, not sure how you'd compensate the mentors...
  • Would you let mentors to charge a subscription fee per week/month and if users want to take sessions with several mentors they need to pay different subscriptions...?
  • Something else?

Any ideas are more than welcome :)

The marketplace method makes the most sense to me. As someone booking on the platform they don't see an extra cost to booking (even if it means the mentors charge a higher rate) and the mentors can appropriately set their rates given how they value their time and the potential cut you take.

The subscription model could be successful, but if you're trying to bootstrap the platform you probably wouldn't have the capital to support the case you mentioned where a user uses more of the service than you anticipated.

I imagine there are additional ways to monetize it with sponsorship/partnerships with other services that would be used by your target audience.
