I wanted to quit gaming so started to look for a project idea to keep me busy. That's how brandables.app was born.
The idea was simple. Check expiring domains every day. Apply some filters to find good-looking ones. Attach affiliate links and print money.
Well not so fast. First off no one liked the idea, haven't heard a good word from those who I pitched and I don't blame them. After staring at the results for a few days, it wasn't for indiehackers.
These domains are not going to work if you are building the next Twitter scheduler. I can see these domains could be of great value in the fashion market, they can be great brands. Could be a toy brand. In the best-case scenario for indiehackers, it could be a mascot name. Nothing more of course if you are not in the aftermarket.
This is from a popular marketplace;

And these are from brandables;

To be honest I wouldn't notice if I switch the names. There is no explanation behind those price tags for me. So digging it deeper...
These results from namebio 5-letter .com sales;

and no they are not dictionary words either;

Anyways, the initial listing contained various combinations now reduced down to only VCVCV and CVCVC format. V for vowels, C for consonants. Oh also only includes "western premium letters" which excludes J, K, Q, V, W, X, Y, and Z.
This was an old project with way more filtering options but wanted to keep it simple stupid in the beginning. If there will be enough interest I'll introduce them incrementally.
Back to the start, it supposes to be an affiliate site but it's not so soon I'll be selling some "databases". Similar to oneword.domains but less regulated and more comprehensive.
Before all of that jazz I wanted to give an update as it is, so let me know what you think.
Cool idea. I remember using BrandBucket back in the day. I always check Lean Domain Search too for the ".com" version of any domain I think about buying.
Thank you Justin. I spent a lot of time on domain names behind the curtains, so this felt like a good starting point. Doesn't offer much for now but open for improvements based on the feedback as yours.
Lean Domain Search looks amazing and their blog is a treasure for me, answers to many questions I've been asking for. I appreciate it!
