This is a little advertisey but I'm also feeling proud: browser extension developers have now made over $50k with my service ExtensionPay, which makes it really easy to take payments in extensions. I made it for myself so it's very cool to see others getting use from it.
I make 5% of that which obviously isn't a lot, but it's cool to help others make money without them having to spend a lot of effort.
First customers came from direct outreach emails, a few came from IndieHackers, and more came from content marketing blog posts which is now the most consistent I think.
The extensions that seem to do the best are ones where people are already paying for the service the extension enhances OR address very common unmet needs on popular services (like Facebook or Notion). In both cases, extensions that are high on the Chrome store and Google seem to do the best.
Anyone have tips to help developers make even more money with ExtensionPay?
Hey Glen, tried reaching you on twitter but no answer. Thinking about using this for my new extension. In fact, I'll probably start implementing today.
FYI, I found extension pay via one of your blog posts on your website which gave details of some othrr nice extensions and how much they have made - wasn't even looking, but was a nice find.
Hey does your app show a dashboard of users and some kind of analytics ?
Hey, with ExtensionPay payments are handled via Stripe, I guess you should be able to use the dashboard of your Stripe account for this purpose.
