Bubble vs Webflow?

Sorry if this has been asked a number of times, I looked around on the first page of Google for these results to find out what is suitable for each project but wasn't able to find too much.

What's your tool of choice between Bubble and Webflow? What's a distinct use case for each platform that would showcase its features?

Get this question all the time from my members at Nocodify.com.

Bubble = Best for complex web apps
Webflow = Best for design, but lacking in complex web app structures

    Popular Webflow Stack:

    • Webflow for the website
    • Memberstack for account creation and having a paywall
    • Zapier for database retrieval
    • Airtable for database

    Popular Bubble Stack:
    -Bubble

Bubble has a higher learning curve, but the things you can do in Bubble vastly outweigh Webflow (for now). Which you choose is highly dependent on the type of application you want to build. If you're building a workflow-heavy application, with lots of complex features, Bubble's the way to go. I might be able to help you out more if I understood what you're trying to build.

@tbotnar thanks for the detailed response. Yeah I built my side project ennie.co with Webflow, I checked out Bubble quickly when I was making the decision but felt the UI was better with Webflow so I ultimately went with that, although it's exactly what you said with the Stack, which makes Bubble really interesting to me.

Currently Ennie has a bunch of integrations powered by Zapier and I ultimately don't believe it's super scalable, so I was trying to learn more about Bubble (even their Showcase page doesn't do them justice, from what I can see), but with your explanation it sounds like I should probably take a few hours to learn it because it has a lot more capability.

Yes. A popular thing to do is build your landing page on Webflow (to look nice and pretty), and then have your actual app run on bubble. And yeah, I wouldn't rely heavily on Zapier and all the other apps. When one breaks, everything breaks. So limiting yourself to only Bubble is a plus.

If you want to learn bubble, we have a bunch of free tutorials at nocodify.com. Take a look at our bubble beginners workshop video (its lengthy but great info).

Do that mean that with the Bubble stack, one can accomplish the same complexe function as with the Webflow stack and so we save on cost and setups associated with zapier, airtable and memberstack?

      1. 2

Yes, you can actually do more on bubble. It'll perform better, be more integrated, and you won't have any worries when one tool goes down.

Good question. It's hard to set a fine line. Depending on your objective.

If you're looking for features like landing page, hybrid website, CMS and nice interaction go for Webflow. Otherwise Bubble is a cool tool to make web app and to start a no-code project.

What do you mean by hybrid website?

We use webflow for our website and cms. but the app itself is in bubble. We've found this combo to work best for us. As we can use both for our seo strategy and provide users with a great experience. Plus we think it's the best stack to scale, imo :)

Nice! That's a great idea @arod, I'm going to dive deep in to Bubble this weekend to see if I can do the same

Folks, I am looking for designing the pages and downloading the source files of HTML and CSS. Then, use those files in my project to host on Firebase. So, which one is better in my case. Thanks.
