Build An Informal Advisory Board

It's an absolute superpower to be able to throw recently finished products in front of people you trust, respect, and idolize.

I just refreshed my landing page. Once I had it in a state I was happy with.. I put out there to these groups. I posted it in 2 different chat groups of people.

All of their feedback was constructive and positive. It was time to do more work. I edited here and there, added elements, fixed flows. Wow it was more time to edit than to actually create the landing page in the first place.

The feedback absolutely helped me push the landing page to the next level.

It's great to have a few people you can bounce things off of.

You can build this yourself, person by person.

It's as simple as just emailing people you know will get back to you. If you email them a couple times and they don't respond, don't email them again later. Timing is key.

But I've found these groups in other more informal places. One is Facebook group of makers we all help each other.

The other is a Telegram group of a few people who we all recently met up in a coworking space.

If you don't feel like you can make one of these groups, trust me, I can't either. I tried to create an informal group of newsletter creators and it just went dead after about 2 months.

These two groups I'm in now, are a blessing from someone else. Someone else created them, I give as much value as I can when others post. And we make huge efforts to meet outside of the chat group. Coffee, Dinners, Lunches, Impromptu Chats.
