After building various products, I always found creating the UI for various pages slowed me down. I was happy when Tailwindui was released.
However, I can see a tailwind site pretty quickly, you obviously can customize tailwind to fit your needs, but in trying to crank out an MVP most just copy and paste the same styling. That's okay, but I came across this new tool to help expedite the process.
It's built by Marcel Pociot and is called Windly. If your like me this will help you out tremendously.
That sounds awesome, but what does it do with styles that cannot be easily converted to Tailwind? "Try it on this site" is completely unhelpful, because obviously it's optimized to be perfect.
Agreed, but I think they are pushing an update about speed and trying to convert better. The point is it's early, after some feedback and implemented feature requests it can become such a helpful tool.
I had an email exchange with the author, who seems legit and honest. It sounds like things are really early, and most of the features I need are either impossible or a long way off (like reading custom configs and being able to handle nested elements aka Bootstrap) but I sure hope for the best.
Do you think that TailwindUI requiring purchasing will slow down the adoption of Twilwind in general?
Nah I don't think so. It's such a popular framework. I can only imagine what future updates will be. Obviously, their success will spark some competition which is always a good thing.
