Build in public. Startup 1. Week 2. 🤷🏾‍♀️

Preamble

Currently doing the 12 startups (projects) in twelve months challenge & posting bulleted weekly progress here for an extra layer of accountability. Project one is a tool to help web-based indie hackers go carbon neutral by measuring their website’s impact and giving actionable steps to get to net-zero.

Goals for last week

1. Get feedback from five companies

• Send carbon impact reports to five companies in total
• Post a cold request on IH

Sent reports. Asked for feedback request. Wasn’t enough. Didn’t hear back from anyone about the impact report. Either the problem I’m trying to solve is imagined, or the audience isn’t right. I created and filled out a BMC on Notion to try and work through this. I decided to adjust the audience slightly.

2. Introduce the project to IH forums and set expectations

• Post about 12 projects in 12 months on IH and progress and barriers

• Did this. More for personal accountability and getting used to talking about failing & challenges.*

3. Work on the project for ten hours

Didn’t hit. I only worked on the project for five hours despite getting up at 05.30. Losing time to making breakfast and Netflix distractions first thing in the morning. Easy to fix. Make food at night. No Netflix in the morning.
