Build log: Notifications and community safety shipped today on IndieAIs — here's exactly what we built

Today wasn't a feature people will tweet about. It was the infrastructure that makes everything else trustworthy and alive. Here's exactly what shipped.
🔔 Notifications — 7 triggers, all live
Every meaningful action on IndieAIs now notifies the right person in real time.
The 7 triggers we activated today:
→ Forum upvotes notify the post author → Forum comments notify the post author → Connect requests notify the recipient → Tool upvotes notify the builder → Tool comments notify the builder → New tools notify the builder's followers → Builder updates notify followers
The notification UX matters as much as the triggers. We built it so notifications mark as read when clicked with a clear visual indicator, there's a Mark All Read button for people who've been away, every notification has a trash icon to delete individually, and every notification links directly to the relevant page so you're never left hunting for context.
A platform where builders list their tools and never hear anything back is just a directory. Notifications are what turn it into a community where people actually feel present.
🚩 Report Buttons — everywhere they need to be
Community safety isn't a feature you bolt on after growth. It's infrastructure you build before you need it.
Report buttons are now live across the entire platform:
→ Tool detail pages — sits next to upvote and share so it's always visible → Builder profiles — flag icon in the social links row → Forum topics and comments — fully covered from previous implementation
If something doesn't belong on IndieAIs the community can flag it immediately without hunting for a contact form or sending an email.
🛡️ Admin Reports Dashboard — full review workflow
Every report goes into a dedicated Reports tab in the admin dashboard. Not a inbox. Not a spreadsheet. A proper workflow with:
→ Status filters — pending, reviewed, resolved, dismissed → Review, Resolve and Dismiss action buttons → Admin notes per report for internal context → Pending reports counter highlighted in the dashboard so nothing gets missed
This is how IndieAIs stays trustworthy as the community grows. Human judgment on every report. Transparent process. No automated dismissals.
Why this matters
The most common reason community platforms fail isn't lack of features. It's lack of trust.
Builders won't list their tools on a platform where bad actors can misrepresent them without consequence. Users won't engage with a community where spam and low-quality content pile up unchecked. Investors won't take the Investor Ready page seriously if the listings feeding it aren't curated and safe.
