Building a 3D-first GPS app while struggling with map rendering.

I’ve spent the last few months working on my Android app, GPS Earth Satellite View Maps.

The goal was simple: make navigation feel less like following a 2D line and more like looking out of a car window. I wanted to bring high-def 3D satellite views and real-time traffic to users in a clean, snappy way.

The Reality of the Build: Building this wasn't just about UI; it was about handling map performance so it doesn't lag on mid-range Android devices. Getting the 3D landmark rendering right while keeping the app size small was the biggest technical hurdle I faced.

I’m currently focusing on External ASO to get the first 100 organic users, and it’s been a massive learning curve—balancing code with marketing on Pinterest, Substack, and Reddit.

I'm at a point where I’m looking for honest feedback on the user experience. If you’re into mobile development or map tech, I’d love to hear how you handle performance optimization for map-heavy apps.

If you’re curious, you can see what I’ve built here: [Link]

Would love to hear your thoughts!
